Myotherapy & Massage in Brighton – Relieve Pain, Improve Movement
At Brighton Spine & Sports Clinic, we offer myotherapy and massage therapy to help relieve pain, restore mobility, and improve your overall function and performance.
Our experienced myotherapists support the local Brighton community, as well as surrounding areas including Elsternwick, Hampton, Elwood, and Bentleigh.
What Is Myotherapy?
Myotherapy involves the assessment, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. These issues often arise from injuries, posture imbalances, overuse, or stress — all of which can affect movement and quality of life.
Using a variety of hands-on techniques, myotherapists work to restore soft tissue health and get you moving with greater ease and comfort.
Treatment Techniques We Use
Each treatment is tailored to your needs, and may include:
-
Soft tissue massage – Gentle or deep pressure techniques to relax muscles and ease tension
-
Passive & active stretching – Targeted movements to improve flexibility, muscle tone, and control
-
Trigger point therapy – Focused pressure and release to relieve tight, painful areas in muscles
-
Myofascial release – Gentle, sustained pressure to restore mobility in the connective tissue
-
Cupping – Suction-based technique that may help with circulation, inflammation, and muscle recovery
-
Dry needling – Fine, sterile needles used to release muscular tension and reduce pain
These techniques aim to reduce pain, improve movement, and enhance physical performance — whether you’re recovering from an injury or looking to prevent one.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
Your session will begin with a thorough health and injury history, followed by movement assessments and manual muscle testing. This helps your therapist identify the root cause of your pain or dysfunction, so treatment is effective, targeted, and long-lasting.
We recommend drinking plenty of water after your session to stay hydrated and help flush out any waste products released from the muscles during treatment.
